More Valuable Than Gold

What are, better yet, what is true riches? What is the most valuable thing you can have? The answer is a relationship with God and His son Jesus Christ. He gave is life for us, no value can be placed on that. It can't be measured by any gold standard. An ounce of Jesus's blood is far more precious than an ounce of gold. It's value is eternal, and as we all know we can't take any of our earthly riches with us to where we will all ultimately go.

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

I find joy and peace in the idea, the knowledge, that the Son of God came here and gave all to have me as a friend, a brother, a member of his eternal family. When so many things go wrong in this life, that is the one thing I know I can cling to. Always.

“So that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:7).

Spiritual riches last forever, any riches you can gain while on this earth well, they do not last.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).
