Don't Envy the Wicked

That is maybe easier said than done. We look at the world around us, sometimes through social media glasses, and we see the wicked prospering. Many of the wicked folk, and as much as I hate to point this out, are in politics. They never seem to suffer any deserved consequences for their actions. They skirt man’s laws, pay absolutely no attention to God’s laws even simple ones like the laws of nature, and have pleasure doing it.

What gives? Why do these people seem to prosper more than the people of God? Maybe their bank balances do, maybe their investment accounts do, maybe they get more votes, but, this is a big but, their souls do not prosper. Don’t give in to the Satanic lie that wicked people have a better life than those who follow God. Remember which path you are on and which one they are on. Where do those paths end? One leads to Hell the other does not. We Christians have it good. We may not appear to “prosper” as much as the wicked, but we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus. We know where we will spend eternity. How much more valuable is peace and salvation than making money (no matter who gets hurt) and fulfilling fleshy desires? Remember brothers and sisters we are blessed by the grace of God. We belong to Him and He has an inheritance waiting for us. Do not be distracted and chased off the true path by the smoke screens of the devil. David almost was, but he repented and asked God to not take His Holy Spirit from him. Just as David did we too should count our blessings. Let those folks count their money, they have their reward.

Psalm 73: 1-14

Surely God is good to Israel,
    to those who are pure in heart.

But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;
    I had nearly lost my foothold.
For I envied the arrogant
    when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

They have no struggles;
    their bodies are healthy and strong.
They are free from common human burdens;
    they are not plagued by human ills.
Therefore pride is their necklace;
    they clothe themselves with violence.
From their callous hearts comes iniquity,
    their evil imaginations have no limits.
They scoff, and speak with malice;
    with arrogance, they threaten oppression.
Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
    and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Therefore their people turn to them
    and drink up waters in abundance.
11 They say, “How would God know?
    Does the Most High know anything?”

12 This is what the wicked are like—
    always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.

13 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure
    and have washed my hands in innocence.
14 All day long I have been afflicted,
    and every morning brings new punishments.
